ICD Parish Preschool & Mrs. Bethany Beumer

In preschool, students are working on fine and gross motor skills every single day.  Preschool children are constantly using their fine and gross motor skills throughout the day. Fine motor skills involve the small muscles in the hands and fingers, like when a child uses a pencil to draw or holds a pair of scissors to cut paper. Gross motor skills involve the large muscles in the arms, legs, and core, like when a child runs across the playground or jumps up and down. In preschool, children practice both types of motor skills during activities like writing, painting, building with blocks, playing with playdough, climbing on the jungle gym, and dancing to music. Developing strong fine and gross motor skills helps preschoolers gain independence and confidence as they explore the world around them.

Activities you can do at home to work on fine and gross motor skills.

  • Playdough
  • Puzzles
  • Buttoning and unzipping
  • Dancing
  • Hopscotch
  • Paper tearing
  • Skipping
  • Hopping
  • Throwing and catching a ball

Thank you, again, for your support of Raise Craze this year. I am completely overwhelmed by the participation, the many acts of kindness that were done, and the total amount of money raised. I am also tremendously grateful. Thank you for your support of this fundraiser - we are excited to see all that will be able to be completed around campus because of your generosity!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure to ALWAYS have your family card with you at dismissal. We often have substitutes in the building who are assisting with the pick-up process and may not recognize you. If you need an additional family card, please reach out to Pam Sharkey so she can make one for you.

Please be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. Sharkey regarding the Preschool Thanksgiving Feast. While we do need parent volunteers for this event, we do rely on parent volunteers to send in the necessary supplies. Thank you, in advance, for your help!

As a reminder: if you have a child at home who will be eligible for preschool next year, please complete an intention form as soon as possible. This will allow us to include your family in the registration process which will be opening in early February. To be eligible for preschool for the 2024/2025 school year, students must be 3 on or before July 31, 2025 for the 3 year old program and 4 on or before July 31, 2025 for a 4 year old program.

Rock N Roll Bingo: On Saturday, November 9th, ICD Preschool’s will host its second ever Rock N Roll Bingo. Join us for a night of fun and fellowship! Links for both tables and sponsorships are included below.
